2. Information We Collect
Account information
- Email address (required for account creation)
- Name (from your sign-in provider, optional)
- Password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
- Profile picture (optional)
Usage data
- Photos of an ingredient you choose to send the assistant
- Recipes you generate and the messages you send the assistant
- Meal plans and shopping lists you create
- Your goal and cooking setup (equipment, rhythm, preferences)
- App usage patterns and feature interactions
Technical data
- Device type and operating system
- App version
- Crash reports and error logs (anonymized)
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your information to:
- Generate recipes sized to your goal and run the cooking assistant (planning, shopping lists, rescue help)
- Save and sync your recipes, plans, and shopping lists across devices
- Process subscriptions through Apple
- Send important account notifications (password resets, billing)
- Improve our app experience
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services
Pann uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase - Database, auth, and storage
- AI provider (via Supabase Edge Functions) - AI-powered cooking and recipe generation
- AI image provider - Generates recipe imagery
- RevenueCat - Subscription management
- PostHog - First-party product analytics (which features get used, where people get stuck). Used only to improve the app, never for advertising, never sold.
- Apple App Store - Payment processing (iOS)
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Your data may be processed on servers outside Switzerland and the EU. We share only the minimum data needed for these services to function.
5. Ingredient Photos
When you photograph an ingredient for the assistant, the image is sent to our AI vision service to recognize it and immediately discarded after the response. Photos are not stored on our servers. Only the recipe Pann builds from it is saved to your library.
6. Data Security
- All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS
- Data is stored on secure Supabase servers with encryption at rest
- Passwords are hashed using strong algorithms
- Photos in cloud storage have strict access controls
- Regular security audits and updates
No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. AI Processing
- Ingredient photos are sent to our AI vision service for recognition and immediately discarded after the response
- Recipes and cooking guidance are generated by AI in real time
- AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies
- We do not use your data to train AI models
We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties.
8. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access - Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification - Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure - Delete your account and all associated data
- Portability - Export your data in a machine-readable format
- Restriction - Limit how we process your data
- Objection - Object to certain types of processing
- Withdraw consent - Revoke previously given consent at any time

9. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services.
When you delete your account:
- Your profile and personal information are deleted immediately
- Your recipes, plans, and shopping lists are permanently deleted
- Your goal, cooking setup, and assistant chat history are permanently deleted
- Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for analytics
- Backup copies are deleted within 30 days
10. Cookies & Tracking
The Pann app does not use cookies. We use minimal analytics to understand app usage and improve our service. We do not engage in advertising tracking or share data with advertisers.
11. Children's Privacy
Pann is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and EU member states. By using Pann, you consent to these transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Your continued use of Pann after updates constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
