Mealime vs Meals Hub: Is the Albertsons Replacement Enough?

Mealime closes on 21 October 2026, and its own closing page sends users to one place: Meals Hub. The short answer is that Meals Hub is a good move if you already buy your groceries at an Albertsons Companies store, and not a real replacement if you do not. It is free, it carries every Mealime recipe, and it was built by the same team. But it is not a standalone app. It lives inside the grocery apps of one supermarket group, and that single fact decides whether it works for you.

What is Meals Hub?

Meals Hub is the recipe and meal planning section of the Albertsons Companies grocery apps. According to Mealime's closing page, all Mealime recipes continue there, alongside thousands more, and it is 100 percent free, including the recipes that used to sit behind Mealime Pro. You pick recipes, send the ingredients to a shopping list or straight to your store cart, and the app flags which ingredients are on sale.

The closing page names the store apps it lives in: Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco, ACME Markets, Shaw's, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Pavilions, Star Market, United Supermarkets, Haggen and Carrs. All thirteen are US grocery chains.

What carries over from Mealime

• The recipes. Every Mealime recipe is on Meals Hub, plus a much larger library.
• The price. Free, including the old Pro recipes.
• Guided cooking. Recipes still walk you through the steps.
• Dietary filters and a shopping list built from the recipes you choose.

What you lose

The biggest change is where the planner lives. Mealime was its own calm app. Meals Hub is one section of a supermarket app whose main job is selling you groceries, with deals, coupons and a cart around every recipe. Some people will like that. People who opened Mealime precisely because it was quiet will not.

Plan to Eat, which competes for the same users, tested Meals Hub in September and listed the gaps it found: there is no way to put a recipe on a specific day, servings are fixed at 2, 4 or 6, and there is no recipe clipper for adding recipes from other sites. Pickup and delivery run only through Albertsons stores. Treat that list as a competitor's reading, but the points are easy to check in the app yourself.

Who should move to Meals Hub?

Move if you already shop at one of the thirteen chains above and you mostly used Mealime to pick recipes and build the list. You lose nothing you paid for, your familiar recipes are there, and shopping gets easier because the list feeds your store cart directly. For that group it is the lowest effort path, and there is no reason to overthink it.

Do not move if you shop at Kroger, Walmart, Aldi, Costco, Trader Joe's or anywhere else, or if you live outside the US. A planner that only makes sense inside one supermarket's app is a catalogue, not a planner, for everyone else.

What should everyone else use instead?

It depends on which part of Mealime you used. The closing page does not say that your personal meal plans or grocery lists move over, and Mealime has no export. Before 21 October, note or screenshot the meals you actually cook every week.
